Second Annual 5K Run, Walk, Roll to benefit construction of
Crime Victims’ Memorial Peace Garden

Join runners and crime victims’ rights supporters from across Illinois on Sunday, April 22, for a pair of events at Springfield’s Southwind Park commemorating the start of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

The FBI Springfield Citizens’ Academy Alumni Association will host the second annual 5K Run, Walk, Roll for Crime Victims’ Rights, followed by a Victims’ Rights Rally organized by the Illinois Victim Assistance Network.

The rally will include remarks from Illinois victims’ rights advocates, and a walk to the future site of the Crime Victims’ Memorial Peace Garden. The 150-by-80 foot garden slated for construction in the northwest side of Southwind Park will be dedicated to Illinois crime victims, their families and loved-ones. Proceeds from the 5K Run, Walk, Roll will help fund construction of the garden.

All 5K participants will receive a specially designed t-shirt and medal. Awards will be presented to the first place overall male runner, female runner and wheelchair athlete, and for first place in each of the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-79, 80 and over.

5K FEE: General Public: $20 until April 15, $25 after
Springfield Road Runners Club: $15 until April 15, $25 after
$50 for families of three of more, including children under 15
