The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Sangamon County is an overnight, family focused event that is as much an awareness raiser as it is a fundraiser. Participants from throughout the community come together to “Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.” Teams, boasting members from local businesses, churches, schools, clubs and families, set up campsites and take turns walking the track, enjoying the live entertainment, activities and theme laps, and sharing a common goal of eliminating cancer. The Luminiaria Ceremony begins at 9 p.m. Luminaria are available for a $10 donation to honor loved ones touched by cancer and caregivers. Relay For Life of Sangamon County helps support services provided to cancer patients throughout Sangamon County that include free wigs, transportation to and from treatment, Look Good...Feel Better sessions, 24/7 hotline and more. The event takes place June 23, rain or shine.
