Bill & Mary's Farm – Pick a fresh Fraser fir tree in a traditional setting without the hassle of cutting! Trees are pre-shaken. Bring the kids and enjoy free candy canes and coloring books! 2458 Peerless Mine Road, Springfield, IL. Phone: 528-5233. Directions: Take Sangamon Avenue one block east of the Fit Club and turn north on Peerless Mine Road. Opens November 28th

Apple Barn – Located at 2290 E. Walnut in Chatham. Come check out the Apple Barn from Thanksgiving to Christmas for an assortment of specialty Christmas items – trees of various size, wreaths, roping, as well as poinsettias. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. www.applebarn.net

Crowder Tree Farm Nursery – Located at 4151 N. 8th Street Rd. in Springfield. Phone is 217-544-4952.

Bomke's Patch – located at 605 Country Lake Road, west of Springfield off of Farmingdale Road. Open the weekend after Thanksgiving through December 19. Hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. This farm has been around for several decades. Visitors can select from several varieties and sizes of trees and may cut their own. www.bomkespatch.com

Four E's Trees, Inc. – Trees up to 12 feet! Scotch, Norway pine, white pine, balsam fir, white fir, Norway fir, red pine, Austrian pine, Douglas fir, and Fraser fir. Live dug trees, Christmas store, wreaths, evergreen boughs, and roping. Shipping available. Open: Mid-November for tagging up to Thanksgiving, then open daily 9am-5pm for choose and cut until December 23. 5651 Traughber Road, Decatur, IL (Macon County). Phone: 217-864-4704. Directions: One half mile south of Lions Club on the west side of Mt. Zion. Note: this farm suffered a fire in October 2010 – according to the Decatur newspaper, they will be open by mid-November. Advisable to contact the farm first, to ensure they are open.

Behl Farms – Located at 9030 Cascade Road in Rochester. Wreaths, trees and roping available. Horse drawn wagon, as well as other farm animals. Open on Saturdays and Sundays, beginning the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas. Phone 498-7522 www.behlfarms.com
