"Real Men Wear Pink" For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Have you or a loved one been affected by breast cancer?  The disease changes the lives of thousands and thousands of families each year.

Real Men Wear Pink was launched in 2006 by St. John's Hospital and the American Cancer Society. Now in its fifth year, Real Men Wear Pink has men throughout our community proudly wearing pink every Friday in October. And, for the third year, real men in Decatur are participating, too, thanks to a partnership with St. John's sister hospital, St. Mary's.

The following businesses are offering specials for customers who wear pink on Fridays throughout October:

  • 10% off your meal at Bella Milano.

  • Free 32 oz drink with any purchase at Taco Gringo.

  • 10% off your meal at Lighthouse Family Restaurant.

  • 10% off your service at Jack Stoldt Auto Service Center, Inc.

  • Free regular waffle cone with the purchase of any cone at Baskin Robbins.

Don't miss these other fun opportunities to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

  • Flea Market to Fabulous 2nd Annual "Creativity for a Cure" event. The ladies at Flea Market to Fabulous have created ten one of a kind furniture pieces and home decor for the month long "Fight like a Girl" silent auction October 1 through 30.

  • The Wardrobe is hosting its 3rd annual “Beautiful Bras” fundraiser. Local businesses and personalities design and create bras that are artistic and witty. Come in and cast your vote for your favorite decorated bra during October.  Don't miss the Springfield Moms bra decorated by Allison Klint: "Look at Those Knockers!" All proceeds will benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
