Springfield Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company announces Community Caps

A Refreshing way to Support Springfield

Springfield, IL – Community Caps – a local extension of the Pepsi Refresh Project, is coming to Springfield and Central Illinois in March and April.   The ‘Community Caps’  program is a fun and exciting way for local organizations to raise needed funds for their programs.

Springfield Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company is continuing its commitment to ‘Refresh’ the Springfield area with the “Community Caps” program, helping local organizations with their ongoing need to raise funds for their projects.

‘Community Caps’ involves collecting specially marked yellow caps with “Pepsi Community Caps 5 Cents” stamped on them.  The packaging involved in the promotion includes 2-liter bottles and 20 ounce bottles as well as 16 ounce and 24 ounce bottles of six packs of various Pepsi products including  Pepsi-Cola, Diet Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew and more.

The specially marked Pepsi-Cola “Community Caps” packaging will be stocked in local area retail stores in March and April.  The program is scheduled to end April 30, 2011 or while supplies of special caps last.  Individuals and organizations can deposit their caps at specific designated participating retailers.  The Collection Point displays are located at retailers throughout Springfield, Jacksonville and central Illinois.

The final cap collection and redemption will take place in mid-May.

“The ‘Community Caps’ program is a fun and easy way for people to raise money for their favorite local organization or school – simply by collecting these caps.  Each yellow cap is worth five cents.  We will pay each designated organization for every cap they collect.  It’s really straight forward and I believe it will really help many local organizations in Springfield and the surrounding community” said John Faloon, President of Springfield Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company.  “Simply put, we are glad to be part of the local community and we want to make a difference in the lives of people we serve every day.”

Community Caps is a local extension of the The Pepsi Refresh Project part of the Refresh Everything initiative PepsiCo launched in 2009 and 2010.  The program last year gave grants totalling nearly $20 Million dollars to groups across the United States.
