Some dogs become frightened easily, break away from their owners or even dig out of their fenced in back yard. For a little peace of mind and not a lot of money, you can have your pet microchipped. The chip is implanted in the shoulder blade area and is the size of a grain of rice. The chips last the lifetime of the pet and will never need to be replaced (well, unless your pet lives longer than 25 years!). Vet clinics now have universal chip scanners so it doesn't matter which brand of chip is used. In addition to the chip, all pets should still wear identification and registration tags.
