$3 Million Allocated for West Nile Prevention

It may be dreary and cool outside, but health officials are warning us to be on the lookout for mosquitoes.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is looking for birds carrying the West Nile virus. The state recently gave nearly $3 million in grants to local health departments to help them enhance prevention programs.

Experts say the weather will play a role in how bad the West Nile season is. Hot, dry weather tends to breed more virus-carrying bugs. $3 Million Allocated for West Nile Prevention
