M.S. Clinic Raises Over $16K In Funding

Updated:

More than thirty-eight teams and 300 individuals came out to support the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation's First 5K walk in Springfield.

The group raised more than $16k before the walk began.

"With the money that we collect today, we want to do MS programs for families, friends and neighbors. We also want to start support groups locally with all of our people here in central Illinois."

The group behind this is the central Illinois Multiple Sclerosis Clinic.

MS is a neurological disorder of the brain and spinal cord. It's cause is unknown and there is no way to prevent it. Although there is no cure, drug therapies have slowed the disease's progression.

The clinic opened back in 1995 and follows more than 800 patients in central and downstate Illinois.
