West Nile Case Virus Confirmed In Macon County

MACON COUNTY -- West Nile Virus, confirmed today in a mosquito batch in Macon County.

The
Macon County Health Department has been monitoring mosquitoes for West
Nile Virus since May. The latest batch was their first positive result
of the summer.

The mild weather this summer has helped keep West Nile at bay.

So
far, no human cases have been reported in Illinois, but residents are
reminded to wear bug spray, dump any standing water on their property
and avoid going outside at dusk and dawn - when most mosquitoes are
