Illini land 10th 2013 commit, 3 star ATH Reon DawsonBy U-God And just like that, the 2013 recruiting class for our beloved Illinois Fighting Illini reaches double digits. News hot off the presses (with a giant tip o' the hat to loyal reader Jack M) has 3 star ATH Reon Dawson giving his verbal to play for Coach Beckman next fall. Dawson hails from Trotwood, Ohio, which may sound familiar to you. And it should. It's the same town and high school as previous 3 star commit Jarrod Clements. Looking back on my Clements' post, I look slightly prophetic. Dawson primarily plays CB, but has the size (6'2"/175 lbs) and speed (4.4 40) to play safety or wide receiver as well. As soon as I know more about where Beckman plans on playing him, you'll know too. Reon (who I will uncreatively be calling Neon Reon Dawson, deal with it) chose Illinois over offers from the following schools: Akron, Arizona, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Toledo, Virginia, and West Virginia. Yeah, there's still the assortment of MAC teams we're used to TB's recruits in that list (and the ever sad Indiana), but seeing someone choose us over Pitt, Arizona, Cincy, and West Virginia feels damn good.
