Bradley Leeb-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire The Illini Not Given Bid To NIT, The Season Has Finally Come To An EndBy Joe Kutsunis There isn't much to be said, there isn't much needed to be said. The season started off on a hell of a ride, A big win streak, even 48 hours all alone in first place in the Big Ten. Then the other shoe dropped. Then a third, fourth and fifth shoe dropped. As basketball seasons go, the second half of this one could have gone a lot better. Friday, Bruce Weber was fired and he gave an excruciatingly heartfelt speech to the fans and press alike. You can't tell me the team would want to take the court again without him after that, and I don't blame them. There was nothing to be gained from playing in the NIT, and frankly we might have been embarrassed. For the sake of the players and the coaches that would have been there for it, I am glad that didn't happen. Let's just move on and put this whole episode behind us.
