Champaign Kidnapping Hoax

A federal grand jury has indicted 3 people for the crime. 19-year-old Monica Ramirez, 25-year-old Eduardo Guerrero Cortez, and 18-year-old Jarbey Villalobos are facing charges for conspiring to lie to police about the June 11th kidnapping.

The once victim, Monica Ramirez, is believed to have orchestrated the kidnapping. She also faces charges for: making false statements to law enforcement and before a grand jury. If convicted the suspects could face up to 5 years in prison and 250-thousand in fines.

The US Attorney for the Central District of Illinois has charged three people for an alleged kidnapping hoax that happened last month.

The victim, who was allegedly kidnapped, is one of the three people being charged.

All three appeared in federal court earlier today and remain in custody of the US Marshals Service.
