Spiderman Takes to the Streets to Woo Voters

Updated: Sunday, April 20 2014, 03:19 AM CDT

Superheroes aren't only taking the big screen by storm. Some are taking to the streets in an effort to woo voters. It was Spiderman who was recently attracting attention strolling down the streets of Mumbai, India.  Behind the mask though it was the independent election candidate Gaurav Sharma who embodied the popular comic book hero to lock in voters in the upcoming Indian elections. Sharma, a former martial arts trainer for the police scaled buildings and spoke directly to voters. He's a candidate for the south Mumbai constituency and one of the country's richest. He says residents are often surprised to see him outside of their windows, but ultimately they love it and he believes he is still the best person for the office. Meanwhile residents say they are impressed by his non-traditional campaign strategy. Results from the election will be announced next month.
