Springfield Home Total Loss After Fire

Updated: Saturday, April 19 2014, 04:15 PM CDT

Fire crews are on the scene of a fire in the 600-block of East Black Avenue on the north side.

The Springfield Fire Department tells us the call came in around 4:15 p.m. The residents of the house returned home, saw the house on fire, and called 911. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Fire officials say the fire was mostly put out by 5:10 p.m. It appears the home is a total loss.

No one was injured in the fire, but a family dog inside the home did not make it out safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
