AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- These Internet cookies aren't some tracking file on your browser. They're Oreos. Folks with a case of the munchies stood on long lines at the South By Southwest festival to get a chance to create and eat customized Oreos. The cookies were produced on a 3-D printer using colored frosting. Users got to pick from 12 "trending flavors" on Twitter and colors for the cookies. They watched as the machine produced them. Of course, there was milk to wash it all down. The South By Southwest festival runs through the weekend in Austin, Texas.
AVALANCHE DESTROYS CHAIRLIFT
CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN, Wash. (AP) -- The explosion worked too well. The Ski Patrol set off a blast at the Crystal Mountain resort on Mount Rainier in Washington state. The idea was to bring down unstable snow that threatened an avalanche. But the wall of snow triggered by the explosion wiped out a chairlift. No one was hurt and the area was closed. Crystal Mountain marketing director Tiana Enger says they "got a bigger result" than they had anticipated. The chairlift was the highest and one of the oldest at the ski resort. Officials say it will be replaced this summer.
MIAMI (AP) -- U.S. Senator Marco Rubio will be doing his civic duty today. The Florida Republican has been summoned for jury duty in Miami. He's to report this morning to the courthouse where Miami-Dade County criminal trials are held. No word, though, if Rubio will actually sit on a jury. Rubio's family home is in West Miami, where he began his political career as a city commissioner. Rubio was elected to the Senate in 2010.
