Heat Advisory for Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana

IL, TN, IN, KT (AP) -- A heat advisory remains in effect until 7:00pm CDT Saturday.
Temperatures will continue their heat up through the 90s each afternoon over the next several afternoons as high pressure aloft builds into and across the nation's midsection.
These temperatures will combine with rather muggy conditions to produce afternoon heat index values from 100 to 105 several days in a row. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
Precautionary/preparedness actions: A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Make sure outside pets have plenty of water.

STOLEN CART-PROBATION VISIT

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- A man in Albuquerque, New Mexico drove straight into trouble while trying to show off his hot new ride. KOAT-TV reports (http://goo.gl/Y6F69T) 18-year-old Michael Johnson rode a stolen electric shopping cart this week to meet with his probation officer. When the probation officer asked Johnson where he got his new set of wheels, court documents say he admitted to taking it from a Walmart. Johnson was arrested and charged with larceny and receiving stolen property. He also violated his probation when he was arrested and was ordered held on a $500 bond. Albuquerque police say the cart is worth more than $1,800.

TOPLESS RALLY

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- A group of women want the right to bare... their breasts. The Asheville Citizen-Times (http://avlne.ws/1rlQN5B) reports a topless rally is set for 1 p.m. Sunday at Pritchard Park in the downtown retail and dining area. Rally spokeswoman LaDonna Allison says the event is designed to promote women's equality. Her group believes laws and social stigmas against women who are topless in public are unfair. Allison says, "what reason do they have for saying it's OK for a man but not for a woman? I just want to be treated equally." The first rally in 2011 drew an estimated 2,000 people, and has declined in recent years to several hundred people-- including about a dozen women baring their chest.

SHOPLIFTING MEAT

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Where's the beef? Police say a man stole meat worth $2,700 from three Safeway stores in Portland, Oregon. They say 53-year-old Barry Sanders was caught on video hiding meat in a shopping cart at least 13 times in July and August, before leaving the grocery stores without paying. KOIN reports (http://bit.ly/1vhdtBU) Sanders was arraigned Tuesday on theft charges in Multnomah County Circuit Court. He had not entered a plea yet on Wednesday.

NAKED MOTORCYCLIST-CHARGES

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Most bikers love the feel of the wind blowing through their hair. But one man took it a step futher: riding in the buff. Arlington County police say a drunk, naked man crashed into two cars while riding a motorcycle before fleeing into some woods. Authorities say 42-year-old Roland Hitchens wasn't wearing any clothes when police found him close to the scene in Arlington Friday night. He was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt. Police announced Tuesday that Hitchens has been charged with felony hit-and-run, indecent exposure, driving under the influence and other offenses. He was ordered held without bond.
