AT&T Call Center Closing Its Doors

Updated: Thursday, June 5 2014, 03:52 PM CDT
SPRINGFIELD AND RANTOUL -- Springfield's AT&T call center, located at 5020 Ash Grove Road, is closing its doors in order to consolidate its workflow into other facilities.

AT&T spokesman Marty Richter said by email that the reason was "to better serve our customers and increase efficiency."

Those that are current employees have been given the opportunity to follow their work to a center in Rantoul, Ill., as well as a relocation allowance.

Richter said employees who elect not to follow their work are encouraged to apply at other AT&T jobs, and will receive priority consideration for openings in customer care call centers across the country. And those that do not plan to stay with AT&T will receive severance.

Richter would only say that less than 200 jobs would be affected. AT&T Call Center Closing Its Doors
