Attorney General Rules On Deputy Shooting

Updated: Wednesday, July 2 2014, 03:33 PM CDT
VERMILION COUNTY -- An update now on a story we first brought you a few months ago where a vermilion county deputy shot and injured a person at the scene of an altercation.  The Vermilion County State's Attorney was asked to look over the case and after careful review he concluded that the deputy did act properly.
A little history now on why he made that decision. The US Supreme Court says any review of an officer's actions must be made from the officer's point of view including risks and dangers he or she faced during the event.
Using that perspective the county''s attorney general believes that necessary levels of force were used to resolve the situation. Charges are still pending against the shooting victim, Caleb Emory, for his involvement in the incident.
