DANVILLE -- The cause of the fire that claimed the life of a three year old Danville girl is being ruled undetermined.

Officials say there are a few ways the fire could have started.

There
were lighted candles throughout the home, gas was supplied to the
house, as well as discarded smoking materials found inside.

Mazzie Cox died from smoke inhalation and burns according to the coroner.

Others were able to escape from the home.

Fire officials are using this tragedy to remind people of the importance of having a working smoke detector in your home.

The detector in Cox's home was not functional.Cause of Fatal Fire Ruled 'Undetermined'
