Jobe Will Not Run for Mayor

Updated: Wednesday, August 6 2014, 10:29 AM CDT

Cory Jobe made it official Tuesday; after exploring his options running for Springfield's top job, he's opted not to run for mayor.

Speaking outside the Harvard Park neighborhood Tuesday, Jobe says he isn't running both due to personal reasons and out of a desire to keep representing Ward 6.

He said, "My exploratory committee wanted me to run for mayor, but this comes down to a personal decision. At the end of the day it's my name on the ballot. It's my name on the yard sign. And it came down to a personal decision."

Even when pressed, Jobe would not elaborate on what that personal decision entailed. Current mayor Mike Houston, City Treasurer Jim Langfelder, and Sangamon County Auditor Paul Palazzolo are now in the running for Springfield Mayor in 2015.

A non-partisan primary will happen on February 24th. The general election is set for April 7th.
