Jobe's Bel-Aire Deadline Passes

Updated: Friday, July 18 2014, 04:40 PM CDT

SPRINGFIELD -- It's been 10 days since Alderman Cory Jobe gave the city an ultimatum to shut down the Bel-Aire motel or he would do so with an ordinance.

We've passed the 10 day deadline, but tonight Alderman Cory Jobe is being tight lipped about the status of that effort.

He was on local talk radio today and said he had a meeting with the consortium of care group looking for possible assistance for the residents of the Bel-Aire Motel.

FOX Illinois reached out repeatedly to Alderman Jobe, for the past two days.

At one point today Jobe told us he was out of town, but would be available for a phone interview.

After we tried to contact him for that interview he didn't answer.

As you remember last week Jobe announced a second plan to tackle the Bel-Aire Motel.

He told us he planned to introduce a resolution at city council to have the mayor and police chief enforce a nuisance ordinance.

The city council coordinator tells us that resolution has been filed and will go before the council on the 29th.
