Large Scale Man Hunt Comes to an End

Updated: Friday, August 22 2014, 01:38 AM CDT
SPRINGFIELD -- He's been on the run since Tuesday, but tonight, Kyle Maxey is behind bars.

A
manhunt that started early this morning  around I-72 and Veterans
Parkway, extended to nearby fields and ended with  Maxey's arrest.

Springfield police say he's the  man who broke a window on a city bus Tuesday morning.

At
the time authorities say Maxey told an SMTD bus driver to wait for him
because he had to go back inside a nearby hotel to get his gun.

The
bus driver drove off.  When a second bus arrived at the stop, Maxey
tried getting on and when that driver refused to allow him on, Maxey
broke the window and ran into the nearby Fairfield Inn Hotel.

So far police have yet to find a weapon. Several law enforcement agencies participated in today's search on foot and by air.

"It
just happened to be that there were a lot more people available I
guess. We actually had people from the Marshall service, the state
police, the state police has their airplane in the air, Sangamon County,
us, DNR was actually out there ," said Lt. Carl Crawford of Springfield
Police.

Maxey is being questioned by police. He's expected to
be charged with disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, and
resisting arrest.Large Scale Man Hunt Comes to an End
