Updated: Wednesday, August 20 2014, 12:20 PM CDT

ALDERMEN VOTED 9-TO-0 TO HAVE THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION TO FIRST REVIEW LOCATION REQUEST TO CULTIVATE OR DISTRIBUTE MEDICAL MARIJUANA.

ALDERMAN KRIS THEILEN VOTED PRESENT.

WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY, COUNCIL IS NOW LOOKING MORE CLOSELY AT A BLEAK REPORT ABOUT FINANCES AT CWLP.

"On the corporate side we have the ability to do something else, and the easy thing is come to you and take your money. Where you've got to sit here and say okay guys the only we can do is raise the rates to make up for this. Well, when we do that it becomes a hidden tax."

CWLP CHIEF UTILITIES ENGINEER ERIC HOBBIE GAVE THAT PRESENTATION ON THE CITY-RUN UTILITY COMPANY.

HE POINTS TO THE COOLER SUMMER FOR SMALLER REVENUES AND SAYS THIS COULD LEAD TO A SECOND TECHNICAL DEFAULT FOR CWLP.

ALDERMEN ARE ASKING FOR MORE NUMBERS.

THEY SAY IN ADDITION TO REVENUE BEING DOWN BECAUSE OF THE COOL SUMMER, USE OF RESOURCES AND THEREFORE COSTS AT THE UTILITY SHOULD BE DOWN, TOO.
