Heat Advisory for Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana

IL, TN, IN, KT (AP) -- A heat advisory remains in effect until 7:00pm CDT Saturday.
Temperatures will continue their heat up through the 90s each afternoon over the next several afternoons as high pressure aloft builds into and across the nation's midsection.
These temperatures will combine with rather muggy conditions to produce afternoon heat index values from 100 to 105 several days in a row. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
Precautionary/preparedness actions: A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Make sure outside pets have plenty of water.

No Goats Allowed, City Code in Lincoln

Updated: Friday, June 20 2014, 04:49 PM CDT

LINCOLN -- Fighting to keep her family together. A Lincoln woman takes on city government to house her pet goats at her home which lies within city limits.  City code prevents certain "livestock" animals from being kept within city limits, but Kaitlyn Heffren says the two pygmy goats have been part of the family for nearly three years now.  She says the small animals are less trouble than the family dogs.  Some neighbors complain about the animals. Others in Lincoln have a different opinion.

One neighbor, Robert Barger, is siding with Heffren saying that he "enjoyed hearing them bleat much more so than hearing the dogs bark. and they were cute to watch. I liked watching them go for a walk in the neighborhood. They were just like a puppy dog running along beside them."

It came to the attention of the city about two months ago.  Heffren was then forced to move the goats to a friend's property just outside town.  A meeting will be held tomorrow night to determine where the goats can live.
