Park Board Citizen's Arrest

Updated: Tuesday, July 1 2014, 09:13 AM CDT

A Clark County Park District board meeting this past May is making headlines.
New video shows that during a 2.5 hour closed door meeting the board denied the public a chance to comment before adjourning for the night.
It didn't sit well with local residents and that's when a concerned citizen sprang into action.
He placed 7 members of the park district board under citizens arrest!
He claimed it was because the meeting violated the "Illinois opens meetings act."
John Kraft is the co-founder of a self-described watchdog group.
He took a video camera to the may meeting to document the proceedings.

"I'm asking that each one of you --aside from you, you're not a Board member-- submit yourself to custody until we get the Sheriff's Department out here. Would you call them please? You're under arrest, Sir.  You're under arrest"

We did reach out to the board's attorney today. She disagreed with the legality of the citizen's arrest, but declined to comment on camera at this time.
