SPRINGFIELD -- A bizarre incident has Springfield Police looking for a man who may be
armed. The incident began with two city buses and ended with the suspect
escaping police capture.

Police surrounded the Fairfield Inn on
Freedom Drive around 11 a.m. this morning. It began when police say a
man tried boarding a city bus near the hotel. he reportedly told the bus
driver to wait for him while he went to grab his gun.

The driver left and alerted SMTD officials, who put out a warning to all drivers about the incident.

Minutes
later, a second city bus arrive, and when that driver refused to let
the man on, police say he smashed a window but did not display a weapon.

Hotel staff and guests were cleared to the lobby while police went door-to-door, searching for the suspect, but he got away.

To
be clear, police say no one ever saw a weapon, but police are not
taking any chances. They tell us they're checking hotel surveillance
video in an effort to identify the suspect. Police Continue Search For Fairfield Inn Suspect
