The Sangamon County Coroners office identifies the men as Ronald Hall, 76, of Springfield and his brother Robert Hall, 82, of Taylorville.

County Coroner Cinda Edwards said both men had single gunshot wounds to the head which appear to be self-inflicted.

"You know, suicide is hard to understand. It's not really a rationale act," Edwards said. "So when you have two people at the same time it's really hard to grasp. So...it's very sad."

The Hall brothers were found sitting next to each other in the car, one in the driver's seat and the other in the passenger side. There was only one weapon recovered from the scene.

Edwards said no note had been found at the scene.

Investigators still haven't officially ruled it a suicide. Edwards said the toxicology reports are pending and police need to process the vehicle.
