Sangamon County Childcare Center Gets $825K from Feds

Updated: Wednesday, July 23 2014, 10:19 PM CDT
SANGAMON COUNTY - It's some extra money from the feds, to help a Sangamon County daycare center expand its business.

Auburn Childcare Inc. in Auburn has been waiting on this loan for about a year and a half now from the state.

They got the call Tuesday night from the Governor's Office saying they will receive $875,000.

The funds will be used to finish the basement of the building they are currently in and to begin building a new facility in the lot next door, which they just purchased recently.

"It's something that I know is a need and if we can fulfill a need in our community, I think it's importance for us to reach out and to meet those needs," said Daycare Director, Rayna Baldrick.

Baldrick says the additional space will allow them to host 30 to 40 more kids than they do now.

Kids from six weeks to 12 years-old are allowed to stay there. Auburn Childcare is also open on Saturday nights. Sangamon County Childcare Center Gets $825K from Feds
