School Zone Enforcement

Updated: Tuesday, August 26 2014, 12:33 PM CDT

NOW THAT STUDENTS ARE BACK IN THE CLASSROOM... SCHOOL SPEED ZONES ARE BEING ENFORCED.

OFFICERS ARE REMINDING DRIVERS THAT ON SCHOOL DAYS, WHEN CHILDREN ARE PRESENT, THEY HAVE TO LOWER THEIR SPEED TO 20 MILES PER HOUR.

OFFICERS SAY SPEEDING IN A SCHOOL ZONE IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES FOR THE KIDS.

DRIVERS ARE ASKED TO PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO ROADS DURING SCHOOL HOURS.

"Schools do not all start and stop at the same time. So keep in mind 7 AM to 4 PM  it is a school day and when children are present on those school days that zone is enforceable."

GETTING CAUGHT SPEEDING IN A SCHOOL ZONE WILL COST YOU. THE MINIMUM FINE IS 150 DOLLARS. OFFICERS PATROL SCHOOL AREAS TO MAKE SURE DRIVERS ARE SLOWING DOWN.
