Unions Rally at Capitol

Updated: Thursday, February 20 2014, 10:46 AM CST
State labor unions are still fuming over pension reform, and they want to make sure lawmakers know it. Union members say they feel cheated out of what they were promised in their pensions.

Members of AFSCME and several Chicago unions flooded the capitol rotunda with a message for lawmakers: remember who elected you to office.

"If you're there to represent billionaires who are concerned about unions, then of course you'll have a problem with that. If you're there to represent the people of Illinois, then take a poll of what the people of Illinois want. The people of Illinois want unions," said union member Matt Brandon.

Union members also targeted gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner during today's rally. They said the Winnetka Republican is removed from the working people of Illinois, and that he would not represent them properly as governor.
