Animal Control Solution

Updated: Monday, February 10 2014, 10:17 AM CST
The Vermilion County Animal Shelter is now in charge of animal control services in the City of Danville after the Danville Humane Society announced Thursday they would no longer provide the service.

Mayor Scott Eisenhauer says the city and county have a temporary agreement that allows the county shelter to pick up where the humane society left off.

In the meantime both parties are working on a long-term agreement that would include the city paying the Vermilion County Shelter for the provided services.

The city will need to rewrite some ordinances to comply with the county.

The mayor hopes those changes as well as the long-term contract will go to committee at the end of this month and then to the board early next month.

Now if you have animal control needs in the City of Danville you will need to contact the Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
