Facebook Fan Page Angers Animal Lovers

Updated: Tuesday, July 22 2014, 11:57 PM CDT

A Facebook fan page titled "Your Dog Sucks" has central Illinoisans upset, and they say the popular social media site won't do anything about it. Be warned, some of the images in the video above are graphic.

The page shows images and posts of animals being abused, and news stories about violence against animals. Outraged animal lovers have targeted the page. Many of them posted they reported the page to Facebook as inappropriate.

NewsChannel at Nine talked to experts with the Springfield Animal Protective League. They say the page's administrator (who’s tried to remain anonymous) knows what he's doing so he doesn't get shut down.

"His responses are very carefully couched in that it's more of an editorial of the images he sees. It's kind of a nudge, nudge, wink, wink, I'm not endorsing this but gosh look at this isn't it awesome kind of
thing. I think that's done very carefully to ensure Facebook doesn't go on and say 'well you are endorsing animal cruelty which is illegal and we can take your page down," Deb Bonner, Communications and Special Events Director with the Springfield APL, said.

Bonner says the more people post to the page and comment on images, the more visible it becomes. Her advice is to keep quietly reporting the page to Facebook, and don't fuel the page administrator's hate.
