Ferguson Update: Brown's Killer's Name Released

Updated: Monday, August 18 2014, 10:31 AM CDT
A much anticipated announcement from police in Ferguson, Missouri,       six days after the shooting death of Michael Brown an unarmed black 18 year old.

"The officer that was involved in the shooting of Michael Brown was Darren Wilson." said Thomas Jackson, Ferguson Police Officer.

Ferguson police released the name of officer Darren Wilson calling him a gentle,  quiet man and distinguished officer of six years but no photo was provided.

Brown was unarmed when officer Wilson shot him spurring community outrage. Initially the chief said Wilson stopped brown following the description of a robbery suspect. Later, he gave a different reason for the deadly confrontation.

"Because they were walking down the middle of the street blocking traffic. That was it." said Jackson.

Ferguson police also released surveillance video of the alleged robbery prior to the shooting, Brown entered a local  market where he allegedly stole close to fifty dollars in swisher sweet cigars and shoved the store clerk in the neck. Even the release of the officer's name and the video still left many  angry.
"You will lie, you will lie, you will lie and you'll cover up, and you'll cover up and you'll cover up."
"it's going to raise a whole lot of tension, right now because of the issue you're bringing up of robbery. So the tension is going to get real high today."

Attorneys and representatives for the family reacted to the information.

"this is the universal statement for i surrender. And i can just hear my cousin's voice right now saying don't shoot!"
Violence and looting erupted almost immediately last saturday after Brown's death. Police in riot gear made many arrests and forced those in the streets  to leave or go to jail. Thursday night crowds were still on the streets but there was no violence.
Missouri state police have taken over security in Ferguson. Captain Ron Johnson a Ferguson native walked among the protesters. His presence greeted with cheers and hugs.

"Yesterday we saw what it should be, we saw what it could be, and we saw what it will be." said Johnson.

Family representatives don't dispute that's Mike Brown in the video.  They say the family never claimed he was a perfect kid. What's missing now is information about what turn that stop of mike brown into a fight with Wilson and what justified the use deadly force.
