Governor Quinn Announces Money Going to Decatur

Governor Quinn announcing extra money is headed to the Decatur Civic Center.

$2.1 million will go to upgrade and modernize the civic center. And over the next 30 years, a total of $3.2 million will be pumped into the center for upgrades.
    
The money is part of the Governor's agenda to create more jobs in the state and help the Decatur Civic Center become more competitive with other regional venues.

"And when you entail bringing wealth in the community, it can be bringing new business into town, but it can also be job expansions here in Decatur and also infrastructure is an important part of that. But more then anything else, it's about quality of life and this grant announcement today from the Governor is about quality of life."

The project will create and support local jobs.
    
Representative Sue Scherer from Decatur hopes this project will boost tourism in the area that can in turn boost the economy.
