DANVILLE -- The Danville Humane Society is under fire after news surfaced the shelter and it's director were putting animals down without the proper license.

Humane Society board members say they do not believe the shelter ever had a license and the director's expired in 2012.

While the director was trained to perform the procedure in Indiana he still did not have a current license.

It is not known how many animals were put down without the proper paperwork.

The director, Glen Laird, has been suspended and the board has yet to decide what his future will be with the Humane Society.

Now board members say a new license may not be need if they decide to be a no-kill shelter.
