New Emergency Response Bills Could Save More Lives

Updated: Friday, August 15 2014, 09:45 AM CDT
ILLINOIS -- Emergency response should improve in rural areas around the state. This, after Gov. Quinn signs two pieces of legislation into law.

One bill upgrades ambulance providers' licenses in rural areas, so it is easier for them to provide medical care.

Current law restricts an ambulance to a set level of emergency care, regardless of the qualifications of those staffing it.

Supporters say this will allow more life-saving procedures to be performed in an ambulance.

The second bill allows firefighters trained as paramedics to use those skills in their roles as firefighters. New Emergency Response Bills Could Save More Lives
