Officer Shooting Update: Suspect Possibly Involved in Armed Robbery

DANVILLE -- Police say the man arrested for a Friday night police shootingis also charged with armed robbery of a Family Dollar store last Wednesday.

Police arrested 23 year old Michael Rouse of Ridgefarm for attempted murder of a peace officer.

The shooting happened on Kentucky street Friday evening when the officer, whose name is not yet being released, got out of his car to interview the suspect who was walking.

The man allegedly shot and hit the officer several times before taking off on foot.

Police arrested Rouse Saturday night after holding up in a home in the 2600 Block of Cannon Street.

Police reported seeing Rouse on Cannon Street around 6pm Saturday before entering a house.

Police then surrounded the area before Rouse surrendered after 9pm.

Prior to the shooting there was a warrant out for Rouse from the Illinois Department of Corrections for absence without authorization.

Now he is being held on 5-million dollar bond for an attempted murder charge.Officer Shooting Update: Suspect Possibly Involved in Armed Robbery
