Public High Schools Host "Freshman Forward"

Updated: Saturday, August 9 2014, 04:17 AM CDT

SPRINGFIELD -- Summer break is quickly coming to an end in District 186. In just a few weeks, hundreds of teens in the Springfield area will experience their first day of high school.

To help them prepare, public high schools organized "Freshman Forward," an orientation session for incoming freshman.

Along with faculty organizing the event, several students volunteered to help their future classmates feel at home.

"I as a senior, I want to be able to help those freshman, just like the seniors when I was a freshman helped me. It's just good to help and give back to this school because this school has really done a lot for us."

There was another opportunity for incoming students to meet their teachers and find their classrooms Friday, starting at 8:30am.

Lanphier, Southeast, and Springfield high each have "Freshman Forward" orientation.
