Quinn's Running Mate Attacks Rauner

Updated: Friday, August 29 2014, 02:49 PM CDT
ILLINOIS -- Governor Quinn's running mate, Paul Vallas, seems to be the designated
attack dog of late looking to take a bite out gubernatorial challenger

Bruce Rauner's lead in the polls.

Today Vallas went after Rauner's tax plan.

During
a visit with members of the Illinois Education Association Vallas said
Rauner's plan will result in education funding cuts and teacher
layoffs statewide.

Locally Vallas claims that Rauner's tax plan would cost Sangamon county school districts about $52 million in funding.

"What
school districts will do is that they'll jettison anything that's not a
core service. They'll jettison anything that's not a core educational
service and then they'll increase their class sizes. And that's the
approach that most districts take when they have draconian cuts," said
Paul Vallas, Democratic candidate for Lt. Governor.

Rauner's tax
plan includes freezing local property taxes, which many school
districts rely on for revenue, and raising the state minimum wage.

But by how much?

Rauner isn't saying right now.Quinn's Running Mate Attacks Rauner
