Flood Advisory for Central Sangamon County

SANGAMON CO. (AP) -- The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for central Sangamon county in central Illinois until 2:30pm CDT. At 11:30am CDT, emergency management reported minor flooding of viaducts and underpasses in the city of Springfield. Some locations that will experience minor flooding include Springfield, Chatham, Riverton, Rochester and Sherman. Excessive runoff from this storm will cause minor flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

The Cost of Cable

Cable or satellite boxes. A lot of us use them to watch TV or record our favorite shows, but they are also the appliance that uses the second-most energy to run.

That's because even when you turn them off, they continue to run, to update software and channel guides or record shows.

The worst part: unplugging them won't even help because the reboot time uses just as much energy.

But, there is a silver lining.
