Day Care Differences?

Researchers assessed behavioral problems in more than 75-thousand children attending day care in Norway at ages 18 months and 3 years. Nearly 18-thousand siblings were included,

They concluded that there was little evidence that more time in daycare led to more behavioral problems.

Several prior studies in the U.S. made connections between the time a child spends in day care and behavioral problems, but these results from Norway contradict those earlier findings

Researchers say this might be due to the fact that Norway has a vastly different child care system than the United States. Parental leave policies ensure that most children do not enter child-care until the age of one.

Norway also subsidizes day care and maintains strict, national standards and regulations for child care providers.
