Federal Investigation Into Leaked CCPA Scores

The District 186 School Board meeting overflowed with parents-- angry because students test scores were leaked. Names of Capitol College Preparatory Academy students--- along with their I-SAT Test scores were released without the permission of their parents. It's a violation of state and federal law. Most of the 8th grade class along with anyone who attended the school when it first opened are affected. School board president Susan White said board members did not have access to the information. She did say there are a number of district employees who do.

"Test scores are released all the time but names are not attached for obvious, there's a lot of things we don't do where we put people names in for obvious reasons and that is privacy," CCPA parent Bob Ogden said.

District personnel say they spoke with both Springfield Police and the FBI about the breach of confidential information. Board president White started the meeting asking for an internal investigation. Board vice president Bill Looby motioned that an external investigation immediately be launched, and the rest of the board agreed. They voted unanimously to move forward with that external investigation.
