Chachi loves Mitt – Scott Baio a top celebrity donor to Romney campaign

By Jayette Bolinski | Illinois Watchdog

Chachi loves Mitt.

That’s according to campaign records showing which celebrities have made campaign donations to Democrat President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

Scott Baio, who played Chachi Arcola on the “Happy Days” TV show in the ’70s and its spinoff, “Joanie Loves Chachi,” in the ’80s, is one of the top celebrity contributors to Romney’s campaign. Baio, an outspoken conservative member of Hollywood donated $5,000, as did TV and movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer, WWE executives Linda and Vincent McMahon and former hockey pro Bobby Orr.

Other celebrity donors to the Romney campaign include playwright Neil Simon, Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, Arizona Cardinals tight end Todd Heap and actor Orson Bean.

Obama has 184 celebrity donors compared to Romney’s nine. Check out the entire list for both candidates at opensecrets.org.

The top celebrity donor to the Obama campaign is actress Pauley Perrette from the TV show “NCIS.” She’s donated $14,000. The other top donors are actress Melanie Griffith, film director Cameron Crowe, singer Nancy Sinatra, actress Marlo Thomas, fashion designer Trina Turk, actor Sam Waterston, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, director Steven Spielberg and TV host Jerry Springer. They’re among dozens of donors who gave at least $5,000 each to the Obama campaign.

Wisconsin Reporter writer Matt Kittle wrote about Tinseltown’s donations to the presidential candidates earlier this month before the latest figures were released. You can read his column here.
