Dwight: Prison Closure by March 31

The maximum security women's prison in Dwight will close by month's end. That's already triggering a complicated move of hundreds of inmates, including the temporary placement of 500 prisoners in gymnasiums.

Gov. Pat Quinn ordered Dwight closed to save money. Dwight's closure means emptying the Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln of male inmates. Logan will become a women's prison and combine the populations of Dwight and Lincoln correctional centers.
