Eddy’s replacement pickedBy Andrew Thomason | Illinois Statehouse News SPRINGFIELD — Brad Halbrook will serve out the remainder of the term for retired state Rep. Roger Eddy, R-Hutsonville, according to the Quad City Times. Republican chairmen of the eight counties that encompass Eddy's former district chose the Shelbyville Republican this week. Eddy, 53, bowed out of the General Assembly in preparation for his new job as executive director of the Illinois Association of School Boards in July. Halbrook's appointment lasts until January, when a new General Assembly is sworn in, though he likely will be in that new class. Halbrook, 50, won the March primary for Illinois House District 110. Halbrook would have faced an uphill battle against Eddy in the primary. Halbrook, who owns a fence building company, currently has no Democratic opponent for the Nov. 6 general election. |
