AT&T Invests In 4G LTE For Illinois

AT&T says it wants to blanket the state with 4G LTE. In the last three years, the phone company has invested more than $3 billion in broadband service around the state. Over the next three years, they plan to invest more money to expand and enhance wireless and wired IP broadband networks. They hope to cover 75 percent of customer locations in their wired service area by 2015.

One AT&T official said all this investment means jobs for Illinoisans.

"Studies have shown that between 2010 and 2011, investment in broadband has grown about 13,000 jobs in the state of Illinois," AT&T Illinois president Paul Laschiazza said. "As of 2012, there are 20,000 mobile app-related jobs in the state of Illinois."

Nationwide, the company hopes to reach 1 million additional business locations by the end of 2015.
