Death Investigation Continues In MattoonA man was found shot to death in a Mattoon bar just before 7 p.m. Monday. Tonight, police are investigating the death of Benjamin Newton, 33, at Toaster's Pub as a homicide and robbery. The Coles County Coroner said Newton died from a single gunshot wound to the head. Police wouldn't say if there is one or multiple suspects, but did say the suspect or suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Authorities believe there were a few patrons at the bar about 30 minutes before the shooting occurred. Mattoon police are still looking for people to come forward with any information they have about this crime. Story by NewsChannel20.
