New Colorado marijuana law confusing to some parents, kids

For years, parents have been telling kids to stay clear of marijuana, but now that it's legal in Colorado, things have changed.

Fox's Julie Hayden has more on how parents should talk to their kids.

I agree communication is vital. Outside the box- Would it makes sense to start the conversation with...it's against federal law, I don't think that is the right approach. Is that the main reason a child/teenager should not use marijuana? Isn't it more signifigant that it affects the developing brain. Apparently, marijuana increases "white matter" in the left side of the developing brain. A larger or an increase in white matter on the left side of apersons brain is associated with psychosis, which os not caused by marijuana but may bring earlier onset. Oddly enough, alcohol decreases "white matter" on the left side ofthe developmenting brain. There was an extensive study done on the effects of marijuana only use compared to marijuana and alcohol compared to alcohol only use. The results showed teenagers who only smoked marijuana had a larger left brain, those who drank alcohol only had a reduced left brain, andthose who smoked marijuana and drank alcohol had normal scans.

Its funny how this science report comes out weeks before a state vote... and fox news reports its now after it got approved.... 30 years ago nixon administration said you lost brain mass and it caused psychosis now all of a sudden your gaining brain mass you change your mind as often as mitt romney does on a good day. Fox why cant you tell the world how much money big pharmecuital companies make off the same products a simple joint helps relieve... or how much benift a hemp feild can do to help the economy something we can use as a nation.

We moved to CO two years ago but now that this has passed we are looking to leave. CO isn't going to be a good place to raise children now.
