Will you declare bankruptcy on your student loans?

Student loan debt is now ranked the highest in the US, surpassing auto loan and credit card debt. Senator Dick Durban has introduced a bill that would treat private student loans by letting those student declare bankruptcy, but would this proposed bill actually help students in the long run?

As i recall, Carter got support for expanding and enhancing the student loan program by agreeing to reform the bankruptcy laws so as to make student loans non-dischargeable. Is responsibility for one's debts that one agrees to voluntarily such a bad thing?
