Union battle boils over in Michigan

A union battle boils over in Lansing, Michigan today.

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is about to sign legislation that makes Michigan the 24th right to work state.

That means workers will be able to choose if they want to join the union and they will no longer be compelled to pay dues.

Union workers were out in full force today protesting the measure that would inevitably weaken the unions' bargaining power.

Michigan is home to many automakers, who have traditionally hired union workers to manufacture their vehicles, but sometimes find it difficult and costly to meet their demands.

The right to work debate is not specific to Michigan. Unions it has become a nationwide issue.
