A.Rod Gets 211-Game Suspension

Updated: Wednesday, August 7 2013, 05:02 PM CDT

We've waited for almost a week to find out what kind of suspension Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez could be dealing with for his involvement with a biogenesis clinic in south Florida.

The announcement came down that Rodriguez will be suspended through the end of the 2014 MLB season, serving what is equivalent to a 211-game suspension set to begin Thursday.

Rodriguez has 72 hours to appeal the decision, which he and his lawyer have said he would appeal. During the appeal process, Rodriguez will be able to play.

Thirteen others were handed 50-game suspensions. Most notably: Nelson Cruz of the Rangers, Evereth Cabrera of the Padres, and the Tigers' Jhonny Peralta.

Ryan Braun was suspended for the rest of the 2013 season two weeks ago.
